Tonight No Poetry Will Serve

Saw you walking barefoot
taking a long look
at the new moon's eyelid

sleep-fallen, naked in your dark hair
asleep but not oblivious
of the unslept unsleeping
elsewhere

Tonight I think
no poetry
will serve
