There is Nothing and Nothing is Vast

Do you think you are not a part of this
or that it is not sewn together? The mind,
the heart, the whole body, each organ in tune,
and the cells with their memory
and the breathing the goes on
when the brain shuts down and the demands
of the heart? Despair is unnecessary
to function. A dream is real
and exists because it is yours. It is a longing
that cannot be shared. The universe appears
and disappears and is called time.
The wave and its white curl, each branch
of a stream diminishes, each limb
leaves and takes its dimension
of absence. Everyone knows this.
Everyone knows what is unknowable.
How is it this can be said: There is a thread
that turns in the 10,000 lights.
Someone walks across a field through calf-high
yellow grass that flattens before him,
makes a path and returns.
