Nothing Doing

In between time-worrying,
it fainted on your lips,
which took to whistling anyhow.
You walked away unthinking

out of the dread past
into a light of happiness,
a hunger that sang inside
like a highland meadow

after a long climb. Suddenly
and unexpectedly in view,
spring courting full bloom,
bees all at work in the throbbing air.
