Lento

To be almost unable to wake up
To see the shadow of a spider’s web
To be interested in it sleepily

To notice that the shadow is active
To wonder about its reiterated movement
To think its movement varies from time to time

To call it ocean
To feel it living in the room
To lie full length in the golden light the room contains

To hear the clatter of plates in the courtyard
To forget the shadow of the spider’s web
To open the door and approach the plates

To feel hunger
To recognize that your hunger is privileged
To raise your arms

To take a knife in one hand
To take in the other hand a fork
To consider the veins in the marble table top

To admire on your plate a grilled ocean
To eat a helping of spider pie
To taste the white infinitive wine
