Mulla Nasrudin

The Karkorajami

‘What is a Kar-kor-ajami?’ someone asked Nasrudin’s little boy, who had
been talking about fairy-tale characters.
‘Why, what its name means,’ said the boy. ‘It is a blind-deaf-and-dumb-
walking-thing.’
‘Yes,’ said the Mulla, ‘and I taught it to be those things.’
