Age of Gold

Flight, flutter and song of birds,
The story of man in pictures and words,
Regard of matron, maiden and bride
In a woman's heart with grateful pride
For love's dower, the wind through trees
From bronze to green beneath skies that please
As blue as her eyes, my soul restore
And salve all heartfelt scars of war.
Like gold of mistletoe on boughs
Of mossy oak that rampant dream
Moods of Autumn, Summer and Spring,
Leaves of laurel crown my brows
To metaphor twine as words that gleam
Sweet love and soar on balladry's wing.
