wrapping the wind

(Candlemass 1980)

the waves leave the dunes sculpted
momentarily heaving & shifting
sand across the paths the
waves thrash / catch it
seize it / the wind leaves signs
we can read the future
sand drawings
sand prints / signals of ancient
ways / wrap the wind in
beautiful colors / flow like the sea
lie naked in the face of the moon
her tides / rocked to sleep
by the crocheted wisps of
wind / the kind that makes your
cheeks tingle / & humility that makes
us cry / once we’ve known the
wind / a fleeting lover / caressing our
souls / wrap the wind / & hold it tight.
