I'm Not Afraid of Anything

I’m not afraid of anything,
except, perhaps of bears,
and spiders, snakes, and centipedes,
and falling down the stairs.
I’m slightly apprehensive
I’ll be swallowed by a shark,
and tend to run for cover
when it thunders in the dark.

It’s possible I’m just a bit
uncomfortable with bats,
or spending my vacation
with a pack of savage rats.
If I were lost in outer space,
I might feel weird inside,
and if I spied a dragon,
there’s a likelihood I’d hide.

I shy away from lions,
and from tigers just as well,
and I avoid all witches,
lest they cast a dreadful spell.
I think I’d rather never meet
an ogre, ten feet tall—
but I am not the least afraid
of anything at all.
