Fin and Wing

The fish are in their ocean
of small pond,
the bees are in their city
of small wood,
both fins and busy wings know
nothing of each other’s worlds.

One shadowed with papyrus
and the dreamy seductions
of reflective water, lazy,
indolent, dedicated
to pleasure.

The other clockwork society
building walls of wax and honey,
to house and nourish future
workaholics who’ll also serve
their queen bee.
