Time and Space

The way our memories proceed
down to the present from different
points in the past
must be the way stars
at varied distance in space
cast their light down to our sky —
both canopies unified to our
sight, under which we walk
and have our lives, both
deceptive tapestries woven
of more times and places than
we know, bound by the fanciful
lines we draw to explain
them to ourselves.
