Buddha Becomes a Blossoming Tree

Sunset breaks through a haze of gray
in a world preoccupied by
cynical disappointment and defeats;
becalmed sails ride a sullen bay
and all too soon, light retreats
from a colorless, melancholy day.

Nightfall covers a starless sky
on an earth populated by
tyrannical cruelty on all sides;
sunlit clouds sail on overhead
and then, momentarily.
vanish and dissolve into thin air.

The orange tree crowned with blossoms
settles down calmly in an anxious night.
