Seedtime
As the warmth of the sun returns in spring,
everything in the garden converges
or merges in a silent symphony
of harmony or co-operation.
Each leafy babe or bee-visited blossom
flows in a breezy choreography
of fertility, then fruition.
The air itself is full of potent seeds
spreading themselves everywhere in order
to democratize the vegetal world,
scattering random generosity,
feathery seeds or each tender, young tendril
winging a lighter-than-air descent to
be embraced by the welcoming earth.
